The Project

Developed in partnership with the city of Westbrook, located in Greater Portland
Designed by Portland-based architect and engineering firm, Harriman (in partnership with GYDE Architects in Jackson, WY, co-founded by Vertical Harvest CEO Nona Yehia)
Slated to produce 2 million pounds of produce annually and provide fresh nutritious produce to schools, hospitals, restaurants, markets, and consumers
In addition to partnerships secured with Native Maine, Sodexo Maine and Hannafords Supermarkets, Vertical Harvest Maine will be working with hospitals, corporate cafeterias, schools, chefs, restaurants, caterers.
We have broken ground in the urban center of Westbrook, Maine, commencing construction of the four-story, 52,000 sq. ft. building.

Meet our Greenie of the Month, Crystal!

💬 Crystal constantly reminds all of us of how to grow food and futures. She strives to do her best day to day. Since working at VH she has learned new skills, new forms of communication and professional development. She cares for the plants and cares for everyone around her.

💬 Talk about STYLE! With her sparkly shoes, nails and rings, Crystal’s got it. It’s been fun to see Crystal hold really fun titles in the farm: queen of cutting pea shoots in Comp 4, a prominent member of Kale Crush and Team Vibe, and now a Comp 5 seeding rockstar. She models accountability, consistency, and has grown so much in adaptability. She leads from behind, often doing her best work without recognition or being watched. Congratulations, Crystal - this is well deserved!

💬 Crystal's honesty and directness keep us all in check, and she's such a willing learner. No one gets more excited about getting a job done right than Crystal. Her genuine enthusiasm for cutting the pea shoots is always a highlight of my week. I'm a bit jealous of her five day weekend, and I wish we had more of her time! but when she's at the farm she's often working so hard she forgets to drink water. She lifts all of us up.

INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle Astral Pacific Gin
12 oz Topo Chico
16 oz @AmritaBeverages “I Mint to Tell You” (for our Jackson Hole folks)
2 oz Cointreau (AB Free // Orange extract)
The juice of two mandarins
GARNISH: Fresh Citrus, Vertical Harvest pea shoots, Vertical Harvest Spicy Mix, Mint

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. In a large punch bowl pour all ingredients over a block of ice.
2. Add sparkling water, and garnish with fresh citrus, microgreens, and mint.
