What a fun day at the Maine Artisan Bread Fair in Skowhegan! 🥖💚 We loved connecting with so many folks who stopped by our table to learn more about Vertical Harvest—and of course, to sample our microgreens blended into a zesty pesto and spread onto the most beautiful sourdough from the generous crew at @scratchbakingco.
We’re also giving a big shoutout to our friends at @thegoodcrust.maine who incorporated our greens into their delicious offerings. Not only are they amazing bakers, they’re an all-around fabulous team!
One of our favorite moments? A woman walked up with three kids and said, “You’ll never believe this, but my kids saw your table and yelled, ‘MICROGREENS!!’” 🌱 That joy—and the smile after someone popped a leaf of French sorrel in their mouth—totally made our day.
Thank you to Ian Foss from @prospectortheater for taking this awesome shots!

🌈 July is Disability Pride Month—a time to celebrate visibility, advocacy, and the many ways disability is a powerful and vital part of human diversity.
To honor the month, our own Lindsay sat down with two incredible members of the Vertical Harvest team: Johnny Fifles @jfifles (9 years strong!), and Thibaud Sanchez, proud neurodivergent advocate (7 years with VH!) @thijack1.
💬 Thibaud shared:
“Disability pride means I embrace my autism and embrace myself and others that have different disabilities and all marginalized groups.”
💬 Johnny added:
“To me, disability pride means solidarity with neurodivergents.”
Their conversation touched on everything from bias and belonging, to showing up as your full self without people-pleasing.
🌱 Final words of wisdom:
“Disability is a fact of life—it’s just one dimension of a human being.”
“Just try to be yourself.”
🎬 And we’re keeping the conversation going: We’re proud to celebrate the premiere of Ride Ahead, a new documentary produced by and profiling disabled individuals. rideaheadfilm.com
🙏 Big thanks to Johnny and Thibaud for the reminder that pride comes from authenticity, resilience, and radical acceptance.
Let us know: What does disability pride mean to you? Share in the comments!

🚨 We’re proud to share that Vertical Harvest is featured in CRISP Manufacturing™—a groundbreaking new book by Dr. Gunter Beitinger, SVP of Manufacturing, Siemens Digital Industries! siemens
CRISP stands for Connected, Robust & Resilient, Intelligent, Sustainable, and People-Centric—a framework that defines the future of manufacturing. Our Westbrook, Maine greenhouse was built from the ground up to embody these very principles. From cutting-edge hydroponics and real-time data analytics to inclusive hiring and local food access, Vertical Harvest is proof that farming can be smart, sustainable and deeply human.
As Dr. Beitinger writes, we’re living through a “pivotal moment”—a time of global disruption and transformation where industries must lead with clarity and embrace complexity. We couldn’t agree more.
“Scaling vertical farming profitably isn’t just about stacking plants indoors,” says Arik Griffin, our Director of Farm Systems & Technology. “It’s about leveraging intelligent automation and analytics to push the boundaries of what’s possible in agriculture.”
📗 The CRISP Manufacturing™ series explores how resilient, tech-forward systems like ours are setting new standards for long-term prosperity. We’re honored to be part of this global conversation.

🎉 The energy was electric!
Arik Griffin, Chief of Farm Systems at Vertical Harvest, reflects on his recent visit to our new Maine farm—where, for the first time, the whole team was together and the systems were up and running. 🌱⚙️💚
After years of design, testing, and teamwork from afar, it was an unforgettable moment to see it all in motion—people, technology, and purpose aligned under one roof.
Let’s grow, Maine! 🚀

🎥 Intentional every step of the way!
Arik Griffin, Chief of Farm Systems at Vertical Harvest, shares how our Maine farm was thoughtfully designed from the ground up. 🧠⚙️
From testing automation and building prototypes to refining growing techniques in Jackson, WY—we took the time to get it right. We studied what was working (and what wasn’t) across the industry, and brought those insights into our plans.
Because growing food for the future means growing smarter. 🌱

🌱 From the ground up, we`re growing something different — and our friend Maile is all in. 💚 @mailebuker
Join Maile in supporting Sponsor a Tray, a new program from Vertical Harvest that invites you to power our farm’s impact — one tray at a time.
Each tray is a tiny engine of good: growing fresh food, creating inclusive jobs, and feeding our Maine neighbors. For $250, you can sponsor one too — and even give it a name (Maile’s is “Maile’s Green Toboggan").
This is what a homegrown food system looks like: sustainable, local, and rooted in community. Let’s keep it growing — together.
